Networking technology has solved one of the major hurdles in information management: the connectivity problem. It is now very easy to obtain data from remote information resources via the Internet. However, managing large numbers of incoming data feeds from different business partners presents a new set of challenges. The Fetch Feed Management System makes it easy to meet all of the challenges that occur when incoming data must be processed on a regular basis. The challenges include scheduling processes to collect data (using Fetch web agents, as well as using more traditional data collection methods such as FTP), monitoring their execution, extracting data, transforming data into a common source-independent format, validating the data, and staging the data.
