Actionscript and Rails… Please.. I wonder how hard it would be to create this for the Adobe CS3 Suite.. and Market it..
with on board “quick quiz” learning modules..?
Code, Crash and Cry programming is for amateurs.
You need to know what features really work in all contexts. |

I LOVE THIS SO MUCH.
I LOVE THIS SO MUCH.
I LOVE THIS SO MUCH.
I LOVE THIS SO MUCH.
I LOVE THIS SO MUCH.
Can this be done for All the Adobe Flex? AS3? Ajax? Rails?
IS there a way to WRAP an intertroductory Learning MODULE in this fashion.. I Think Apple had a click this “with a BIG RED Marked CIRCLE” and then type this … etc.
The whole OS was wrapped.. in a teaching module.
Counting the Letters
You have used the reverse method on your name! By enclosing your name in
quotes, you made a string. Then you called the reverse method, which works on strings to flip
all the letters backwards.
Now, let’s see how many letters are in your name: “Jimmy”.length

I wonder if you could create a STEP SEQUENCE
delay, distortion, phazer. etc.
SHIT anything could be step sequenced
– arp. step. glider… for AUDIO
and maybe midi..
Apparently Ive got it working for
Arp feeding into a KEYSPLIT sampler… for StepSequenced Audio
| Diabolical digital destruction, one step at a time. |
| Sizzle Spine is the very FIRST dedicated step-sequenced distortion unit. As such, you can create never-before-heard-of distortion effects. Imagine taking a drumloop sample, and as said sample loops, it is constantly corroded & crushed in a continually changing manner… the distortion effect always changing in realtime, as quickly or slowly as you see fit. Imagine singing through such a device, having your vocals alternate between clean and crispy at random or timed intervals. Like playing synths? Your leads will sound rawer, more alive than ever before once Sizzle Spine gets ahold of them; have your chord progressions play in time with ever increasing bit-reduction, for example. Want to make some grime beats? Sizzle Spine will take a stale and vapid 808 and mutate it into a ferocious and vicious beast. |

ahh outboard
The VSC-2 is has an absolutely unique quality:
it can thicken and widen program material at the very same time. With
one or two dB of gain reduction, the side chain filter engaged and both
channels not being linked, the overall sound gets tighter, the sub bass
gets even deeper, the stereo image widens, and last not least a beautiful
sparkle is being added to the air band. What more can you ask for?” |

Make each page module or content movieclip instance into XML and submit that to the spiders.. VERY COOL.
And the back button works.. apparently.
Very nice for the flash developer community and platform. ADOBE should buy this.
|
Each HTML page uses semantic HTML markup to optimize the page for search engine indexing |
And for proof on just how effective our search engine optimization for Flash websites really is, check out the top natural search results for those same three pages on the top 3 search engines: Google, Yahoo, and Microsoft’s Live Search! |
Wow, this is flooring. I’ve been searching for somebody to break the ground on this for over a year now…I was actually working on creating a ruby on rails cms system that generates a site + mirrored xml files for a mirrored flash site to utilize – however you have beat the industry once again. |

Apparently Tweener Class and Papervision is the way to go.. for prg based animation. Pretty fucking cool..
Too bad this clipmarks cant “Grab” SWF’s.. sucks..
A sort of media grabber is needed also a CSS grab would be nice.
Maybe a JAVA based in browser “screengrab” utliltiy Alla screencast..
For Example:
Tweener.addTween(UITarget, {x:selectedGoTo.x, y:selectedGoTo.y, z:selectedGoTo.z-bounceAmount+UISpacing, rotationX:0, rotationY:180, rotationZ:0, time:primeTransTime, transition:transEquation}); |
| We recently took a stab at doing an iTunes like UI in real time 3D with Flash using Papervision3D. |
| At first I tried using the Flash Tween class , but it ended up taking many lines of code to do simple movements in 3D. A friend of mine turned me on to Tweener, and it is awesome. I love it. In one line of code I can transform all of the properties on any object and get a host of useful call back events that I can assign methods to. It made animating in 3D with code quite a |
| In this one line of code we tween the x, y, z, and the rotation of all three axis in one shot. |
With the addition of the new animated property in the MovieMaterial Class getting an FLV to appear on the back sides of the album covers was a snap. |

Work from a master in box for all our networks
Allow for aggregated privacy/preferences settings
Let you turn the volume of information up & down (as if on a dimmer switch) based on your mood for ambient social information at a given time
Aggregate and make better use of tags and other metadata
Triangulate geolocation data (FireEagle but Y! apps plus everything we might want)
Create visualizations that reveal things and spur more intimate involvement with what is happening in our networks (hello, Stamen, looking at you)
Allow for one-stop status updates to a variety of networks
Contact suggestions based on friend network data
Add contacts to more than one network at a time
Create master searches across networks
Create a master social graph or multiple social graphs as we might like
House a master media library making video/photos/audio available across networks |

So I thought, wouldn’t it be cool if there were a wiki where people could nominate what they thought was the best stuff in the world. Of course, it would have to be easy to use and contribute to. I scribbled it down in my little idea notebook and promptly forgot about it. |
Are the bandwidth requirements as staggering as anyone would expect? |
Adrian: “Not really. We’re not YouTube. We tend to use a lot of methods that keep page loading light. External CSS and Javascript pages are used so that they get loaded into the browser cache for quicker page loading. AJAX is used for simple forms and actions so we don’t have to reload whole pages. All images that are uploaded to the site are resized and recompressed and we’ve have found a nice balance between image quality and image compression. Just a few years ago we would have used 10 to 20 times the bandwidth for a similar site. By keeping the pages light, we gain a better user experience.” |
| could be a cool first Rails project.” |

Those 2 subjects I think are probably the most relevant for me at this moment. Seems that social web needs a wrapper thats open source and browserbased.. Maybe a login/toolbar that is always present a way of wrapping the internet experience or the computer experience or maybe life experience..
Anyhow, a “OSx like Automator” like workflow/UI with LayoutTools/ViewConstruction and BusinessLogic/Modules.
Workflow/UI
Obviously any sort of drag and drop based input that gets converted to code so would be ideal. That way its easy to learn the syntax.
Tools for Code Manipulation
Selection of code blocks, fragments — maps to a visual 3d interface for physics modulators, etc.
ViewConstruction
Any sort of PreAssembly into other forms/NodeTrees/3D Process Trees? Choose and hackup.
RandomThought
Customer Collaborative UI for eCommerce and Webservices Design. (If [edit]_ ) was allowed for every page I wonder how much of the .03 percent of the users will come up with novel UI. Or at the very least ALLOW a TEMPLATE-BASED Toolbar 2D Ui MOD.. modification.

One thing that a lot of Flash users like about Flex is its use of constraints in laying out a design. This class – rather, a collection of 3: Layout, LayoutConstraint, and LayoutManager – provide that functionality to objects in Flash CS3 through ActionScript 3 using a somewhat similar API (though ActionScript only, no authoring interface). Using these classes you can constrain objects to the top, right, bottom, left, or center them horizontally or vertically within a layout. There are also controls for height and width as well as a property for maintaining aspect ratio.
I have created a number of examples demonstrating the use of the classes, all of which can be found on the download/demo page.

The Fisix Engine is an Actionscript 3.0 physics engine built for game developers.

Welcome to the home of the fisix engine. The fisix engine is a verlet based physics engine for flash written in Actionscript 3.0. This engine is aimed towards use in games and other relatively cpu intensive real-time applications. Auto upload to S3 and use Amazons infrastructure for alot lower cost then all of the other CDN’s
It’s a good point to establish some differences between S3 and Akamai and other CDNs. Amazon S3 is housed on presumably some kind of high-availability distributed filesystem (which has become unavailable at least once since launch) across several Amazon datacenters. Akamai, by contrast, has thousands of servers located at key points on the Web. They play some fancy tricks with DNS and intelligent routing to give you content from the servers that are closest to your network location. S3 gives you no such guarantee. However, for many needs, serving from S3 will give you the ability to burst pretty well up to levels that most sites can’t. It’s so close to a CDN. |
| So then I wrote some code and now the process of using Amazon S3 as a source for serving your static content is a lot easier. |
| ’ve posted a java servlet filter called S3CDNFilter that automatically uploads static files to S3 |

Chat system – is IRC Chat.. Everything else.. FLASH
The next attempt involved Wowza, a lower cost alternative to Flash Media Server, and a custom built, Python based stream replicator which Kyle developed. This stream replicator used to take the incoming live feed and pushed it out to 5 Wowza boxes. The setup worked ok to an extend, but another wall was being hit when some features could not be implemented due to Wowza being a closed source platform. The team had to try their third approach. |
all streams are also recorded and archived. Deployment is handled over Amazon EC2, the Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud, a system which allows for immense scalability at the push of a button |
So there you go, large scale Flash video broadcasts on a less than ordinary backend. I think what these guys have pulled off is genius. |

Humm, I wonder if this is better than locomotive.. which is another (1) click installer..
Ruby One-Click Installer for OSX
If you’ve got something else, you are wasting time and hard disk space.
|
This package is the most simple way to equip your Macintosh Apple OSX System with Ruby – similar to the Windows Ruby One-Click Installer. It replaces the broken Readline library, updates to a current version of SQLite3 and prepares your OSX for Rails, which needs at least Ruby 1.8.4 to run. The current Ruby Version is 1.8.6 (1.8.5 is recommended for Rails) and Rubygems 0.9.4.
|
- SQLite3, to have the tightest ACID-compliant relational database management system available.
- Ruby/LDAP, in order to enable interfacing with LDAP-Servers via ruby-net-ldap or Active::LDAP.
- Ragel State Machine Compiler in case you plan to use SuperRedCloth or Hpricot (and others).
Mongrel Webserver plus dependencies (daemons, fastthread, gem_plugin, rake, cgi_multipart_eof_fix), for your ultimate HTTP needs.

You are welcome to leave comments. Please don’t ask for source codes. I release them whenever I can.

Need a rest? Watch these cute sound particles, representing notes from different patterns, which are mixed together to keep the suspense. This experiment is completely synthesized running a polyphonic synthesizer, based on this study and a stereo-delay on 16Bit, 22.050Khz.
They are no external sources, just code. The size of the SWF is about 8kb. If your computer is too slow, try the video I’ve uploaded to youtube.

Customized Profiles, Customized AVATARS, and MOD-Able Virtual World.
| “unite a virtual world and social networking in a completely new way†|
| This social network gives users customizable homepages, and it’s already being piloted in Finland and the Netherlands – you can see sample pages here and here. They’ll also open up the service to celebrities, artists (bands, perhaps, ala MySpace music?) and select brands. Other features include a choice of backgrounds and themes (ala MySpace layouts), a network of friends and the ability to send messages to other users. Of course, members aren’t represented by a photo – instead, their Habbo character acts as their profile image |
This dual approach is similar to IMVU, which has both profile pages and a virtual chatroom. Likewise, Gaia Online has a web-based forum combined with a virtual world |
| In short, it looks like most of these virtual worlds will eventually feature some sort of profile page at a permanent URL. Suddenly the World of Warcraft social network doesn’t look so crazy |
